The Association for the Study of Buffy+ ("Mr. Pointy") Awards
The Association for the Study of Buffy+ confers annual awards to honor the best scholarship in the field of study. The first awards were given at the inaugural Slayage Conference on Buffy the Vampire Slayer in Nashville, TN, May 28-30, 2004, for works published in 2003. Juried since 2010, the awards are given each year for books (Long-Form Award) and essays (Short-Form Award) published the previous calendar year. At the biennial gathering of the association, an award is given for the best paper at the Slayage Conference.
The award's informal name, "Mr. Pointy," derives from Buffy Summer's moniker for her favorite wooden stake.
Recipients and finalists are listed on the following pages according to the year during which the awards were conferred:
The Mr. Pointy Awards jury accepts nominations for works published in a calendar year until March of the following year (e.g., until March 2022 for works published in 2021).
